The lock itself binds from time to time if you use it manually. You have to engage the electronic mechanism to unbind it. I had two of these and was only able to get one to work (the other had such bad binding issues that I sent it back). It works great with the MiCasaVerde Vera2. One big word of warning. This lock is a Kwikset authorized dealer only item. You cannot even get them at Home Depot or Lowes. If you buy one of these here, make sure you are buying from a Kwikset authorized dealer. If you are having problems and try to call Kwikset they will not talk to you if you purchased them outside of the dealer network. I had this problem with the marketplace vendor I purchased my locks from.

I already had one Kwikset z-wave deadbolt on my front door and wanted to add this one to the garage. The installation took only 10 minutes (replacing an existing door knob) and other than the key got stuck a bit it was a painless install. Adding it to my existing z-wave system was literally as simple as pushing a button :-)

This is a great product and works exactly as advertised. I bought the Schlage link lever lock first but returned it because I discovered after buying it then when you unlock it with your cell phone, it automatically re-locks about 5 seconds later, and there is no way to change this. (Note: You must have a z-wave controller with an internet connection to unlock this via cell-phone.)
The Kwikset does not work that way. It stays unlocked until you decide to lock it.
The lock will allow you to program two codes on the lock itself. But if you have a z-wave controller (I use the Vera 2 and it is awesome) you can program several more codes into the lock.
